Minecraft 26.20 for Android
Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.20 — a stable release for Android that is finally coming out of the Preview stage. While previous betas tested sulfur caves and the sulfur cube, this build makes all of that publicly available as an experimental feature, and also adds one of the most long-awaited features in Bedrock — closed captions.
The APK works on most phones and tablets, features Russian localization, and can be installed on your main world without worrying about test bugs.
Closed Captions — Subtitles Have Arrived in Bedrock
The biggest publicly available new feature in this release is Closed Captions. Players have been asking for subtitles for sound effects for years, and in 1.26.20, it finally happened. You can customize almost everything: the position of the subtitles on the screen, how long they stay on, and the sounds themselves that are captioned.
The feature works the same across all platforms and is especially useful for hard-of-hearing players and those who play with the sound turned off—now you won’t miss the visual cues of an approaching zombie or a TNT charge.
Parties: One Group Chat for All Worlds
The second highlight of this release is the Party System in beta. This is a cross-world group chat that works across worlds, Realms, and featured servers. Create a party with friends once—and stay connected even when moving from one world to another.
The party text chat is separate from the world chat, so private discussions don’t get mixed up with the general chat. iOS support is coming later—for now, it works on Android, Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch.
Realm Hub — the updated Realms hub
Realms subscribers have received a complete redesign of the home screen. The Realm Hub now features an admin role—you can appoint trusted players to manage the world without transferring ownership rights. The admin activity log records all changes, and the Story Feed automatically highlights major achievements with screenshots.
Tiny Takeover: Mob Baby Fixes
After the last major update regarding mob babies, some cosmetic issues remained—Mojang addressed each one individually. The textures for baby bees have been adjusted to match the adults, the lighting for the mushrooms on toadstool cows has been fixed, and the baby strider no longer hovers above the ground. The hitboxes for baby villagers, squids, foxes, and a few other species have been aligned with the Java Edition.
Minor fixes: baby cats, horses, wolves, chicks, and piglets now spawn with the correct pitch. A previous bug with zombie piglin babies, where their snouts were facing sideways, has also been fixed.
Gameplay: Knockback, Furnaces, and Minecarts
Knockback behavior has been brought in line with the Java Edition—a long-standing pain point for PvP players on Bedrock. Minecarts on a single track now correctly transfer momentum upon collision. Fall damage finally triggers upon impact with the ground, rather than with a delay—this applies to both sound and visual effects.
A useful fix for crafters: smelting damaged armor in a furnace yields nuggets of the corresponding material. Bone meal now works correctly on grass blocks—tall grass will grow there again.
